Have you got a bag of sugar handy?!

For December, I thought I’d share some festive facts with you and you can have a go at testing your knowledge too! It's a bit of fun and I hope you will learn something new at the same time.

How heavy is the average human head?

  • 1kg

  • 3kg

  • 5kg

  • 7kg

And why is this fun fact important?

Pick up something weighing 1 KG, a bag of sugar or a hand weight for example, and imagine holding that many kilograms in your hand for extended periods of time – it starts feeling heavy pretty quickly!

When we are in alignment (with our head over our shoulder over our hips) our very heavy head is nicely stacked on top of our spine, and our muscles, tendons and ligaments are not working too hard just to hold us up.

When we drop our head forward – in a keyboard slump for example, our body is working hard to hold up that weight, and then depending on how bad the slump, maybe the weight of our upper body too! No wonder we feel achy and sore!

P.S. If you need help in banishing the keyboard slump, book in for a Workstation MOT.
